Academic transcripts and other letters

Q. I need a copy of my transcript for an employer/immigration or a professional registration. How can I get one?

Most employers, government departments or professional bodies require a transcript that states that you have completed your degree. For bachelor degree students, once you have completed the requirements of your course your transcript will state that you have "qualified for the award of the Bachelor of....". Postgraduate students need to have received their faculty award letter before their transcript states that they have completed their course. If you require a transcript before your graduation ceremony, then you may purchase two copies of your academic transcript at the Student Centre for $11.00.

Q. Can I get a letter that confirms my student status or enrolment history?

‘Academic transcripts’ and ‘confirmation of enrolment’ notices can be used to confirm your student status and enrolment history.

For cases when only an official letter will be accepted (for example jury duty or for immigration purposes), you can request a letter through the Student Centre.

To order your letter, please complete a ‘request for letter’ form and return it to: Student Centre, Level 3 Jane Foss Russell Building G02, University of Sydney NSW 2006 AUSTRALIA, or by fax: + 61 2 8627 8279.

Your letter can be posted, faxed or emailed to you, or you can collect it in person. Please allow two-three working days for processing.

Please note that the Student Centre does not provide letters of qualifications for employment. You may purchase an academic transcript for this purpose.

If you require a letter for Centrelink, please contact the HECS and FEES Office on + 61 2 8627 8239. Do not complete the letter request form.

For further information, contact the Student Centre on +61 2 8627 8200 or email student.centre@usyd.edu.au

Unit of Study Results

Q. When will unit of study results be released this semester?

Go to the Unit of Study results section for information on when results are released and and how to access them.

Q. It's been a week since results began to be released and I still don't have any results. What's going on?

Unit of Study results are prepared by the teaching departments and submitted to the Student Centre for incorporating into students' academic records. This takes place progressively from the designated release date each semester. Very few results are available on, or shortly after, the release date. You should not be concerned if you do not see your results straightaway in MyUni. The bulk of results will begin to appear in the week commencing Monday 7 December. If you still have missing results on result notices mailing day, you should contact your unit-of-study co-ordinator or teaching department, not the Student Centre.

Q. Will my marks and grades be on my transcript if I can see them on 'MyUni'?

If you can see your results on MyUni then they are available on your transcript immediately.

Q. My results are suppressed. What does this mean and what can I do?

Results are suppressed for a variety of reasons, the most common of which is that you owe the University money. If you do not know the reason why your results are suppressed, phone the Student Centre on +61 2 8627 8200. We can tell you why your results are suppressed and who to contact. The Student Centre does not make any decisions regarding the lifting of a results suppression.

Handbooks

Q. Where do I get a handbook?

You can buy a handbook at the Student Centre, or download one from the web. You can also pre-order a handbook and have it posted to you. Please visit the handbooks site.

Q. What is a handbook?

Handbooks provide information you will need about your course, including the units of study, the degree resolutions (including the requirements for the degree), faculty policies and guidelines.

Student Cards

Q. How can I get a replacement student card?

There is a $20 fee to replace lost or stolen student cards. Go to the University Card Centre, Level 2, Fisher Library. You will need to take appropriate identification. Faculty of Health Sciences students should contact FHS Student Central.

Q. How can I get a replacement transport concession card?

The endorsed form is to be lodged at the CityRail Passes and Concessions Office. CityRail charges $24 to replace a lost/stolen student concession card.
