Dr Fidel Castro Díaz-Balart visits the University of Sydney

In a visit coordinated by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR),Cuba's Chief Scientific Advisor Dr Fidel Castro Díaz-Balart, Scientific Advisor of the State Council of the Republic of Cuba, met with researchers from the University's nanotechnology and nuclear physics programs and current projects in social sciences.

Dr Fidel Castro Díaz-Balart visit focused on exploring future opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual research excellence. He acknowledged these are early stages in the collaborative process and hoped his visit will encourage future interaction with the region given the increased interest in Latin America.

Also present were Cuban Consul General, Nelida Hernandez Carmona and Cuban delegate Mr Lazaro Gustavo Diaz Valdez.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Electron Microscope Unit hosted by Professor Simon Ringer.
